Over the Mountain Guest Farm Accommodation

Forming part of the original town and consisting of what was the old Post Office, Police Station and Farm House, these unique living spaces have been converted into luxurious Garden Route accommodation while still retaining the historical feel that is synonymous with the area.  With space for 25 people spread across the three accommodation units in a combination of 6 en-suite B&B rooms as well as 2 Self-catering family units, Over the Mountain Guest Farm could make for a perfect couples retreat as well as an ideal family getaway.

The old Post Office has been lovingly restored and renovated to provide comfortable accommodation across the four en-suite bedrooms. With furniture produced on the farm itself from Blackwood as well as Oregon pine ceilings and floors with yellow wood beams, the characteristic features of the building are accentuated with modern fittings taking the otherwise rustic trappings into the 21st century. Rooms have separate entrances for convenience and each has access to a stunning traditional porch ideal for late afternoon reading and relaxing.

The stunning Welsch House comprises two separate en-suite bedrooms with their own entrances adjoining a self-catering family unit. The rooms have wooden floors and reeded ceilings which make for cool summer temperatures and a rustic feel. Located on an elevated section of the farm, wonderful vistas of the valley can be enjoyed from the vine covered veranda. A braai area with swimming pool is situated alongside the Welsch House.

The House of Grace, built from stone and mud during the construction of the Montagu Pass, has been restored to maintain its original beauty with modern necessities being subtly added over the years. The cottage sleeps six people with two double beds, two single beds, a small kitchen, bathroom, braai facilities and has the most incredible view of the majestic Outeniqua mountains.

Over the Mountain Guest Farm Facilities

• Tea Garden - A breathtaking Tea Garden forms part of the property, where guests are welcome to relax out in the fresh mountain air and where hot and cold drinks, cakes and treats and light meals are served daily. Every last Sunday of the month we offer a traditional Sunday lunch buffet, booking is essential. The Tea Garden is open from 10:00 to 16:00 every day.

• Dinner -  The old Police Station has been transformed into a stunning dining area and lounge which despite renovations boasts original features including the wooden floors, doors and windows adding to the charm of this already idyllic space. For guests staying over, a delectable home cooked meal is made available by prior arrangement. The menu changes every night so expect something fresh and interesting every evening. Dietary requirements can be discussed with your hosts on arrival.

• Functions & Events - At Over the Mountain Guest Farm we cater for a variety of different events; Ladies teas, baby showers, bridal showers, year end functions, team building functions, etc. We can accommodate groups of up to 50 in our tea Garden or alternatively up to 40 people indoors.

  Special Long Table events can be hosted around our beautiful yellowwood table that seats up to 24 people. A selection of catering options, including traditional country cooking, fine dining, braai’s or platters, are available to choose from.

• Pool and Braai Facilities - There is a lovely pool on the property with ample seating or sunbathing space as well as braai (barbecue) facilities for those wanting to make the most of a hot day.
